March 9th, Page 9 Refugee Romance, an Ongoing Saga Hogwarts Students Still Homeless, and Troubled As Ever___________________ More from the Mouth of Alistair Hawke, Self-Appointed Gryffindor Leaderby Rita Skeeter Another Rita Skeeter ExclusiveYou will never guess, dear readers, who yours truly ran into at St. Mungo’s Hospital, still home to many of Hogwarts’ survivors. That fearless defender of truth and chivalry, Alistaire Hawke. After arranging for a very private interview in his office—not all students get offices, but it seems Alistaire is not only debonair dilettante, but very rich, too; and not afraid to leverage his family’s name and wealth for personal advantage—the flamboyant young man sat me down for a personal rendezvous. The top of Hawke’s agenda? Who is hooking up with whom at the dingy Hogwarts refugee camp. Throwing his long, beautiful hair back over one shoulder, he flashes his pretty green eyes at me. “I have been loudly and proudly evincing my intention to stay around [St. Mungo’s Hospital]. This event has brought people closer together than I have ever seen!” Ribald Hawke doesn’t want to miss a single, gooey moment. And who could blame him? Before I can even stop him, the exuberant boy goes on to add, “I just want to make sure that anybody who must remain here does so comfortably.” The showy Gryffindor exemplar flaunts his refined vocabulary almost as much as he does his excessive wealth—Alistair comes from the venerable Hawke line of the Scottish Highlands. It has been rumored—though you won’t catch this reporter believing it outright—the Hawke wealth comes from questionable dealings and unseemly sources. But back to our central topic. Who are your favorites, I ask Alistair slyly. Drawing secrets out of the boy is like hexing a baby—so easy it might almost make one feel guilty, or so we might imagine. “ I have no favoured women. Or men, for that matter.“ That’s right, girls. Not only does this irresistible, irrepressible teenager refuse to limit himself to one intimate partner, he plays for the other squad on the pitch! And Alistair Hawke is hardly the bottom of the barrel. Upon further, almost cursory exploration of the sordid little refugee camp, I was quickly assaulted by the gross and indelicate truth. Ravenclaw House, never known for its conscientious observance of social propriety, as usual has the most scandalous assortment of in-house trysts and affairs. Matthew Pace, the elected prefect and supposed role model for younger Ravenclaws, is a polygamist-in-the-making. He seems to have swayed several of his female classmates into nearly cult-like devotion, with sweet promises dripped like purloined honey into their sweet little ears. At least the Slytherin students have the good sense to hide their blossoming urges and youthful dalliances behind locked doors. Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, and Gryffindors seem to delight in showing off their poor judgement and highly inappropriate conduct like newly minted badges of pride. Well, my readers, I am here to tell you, pride comes before a fall. And when these tawdry tales and seamy soap operas become known to officials outside the coddling Hogwarts environs, I guarantee there will be a reckoning. I only hope I can be there to see it, so that I can share with you all the juicy details! Stay tuned for part three of my continuing exposé, “When Students Date Their Teachers.”

March 16th, Page 2 A Letter from the Editor, Warbuckle Tidalbottom XIVIt has been two weeks since the terrible events we have been calling an attack on the heart of the Wizarding World. Two weeks since the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts School, and the neighboring Wizarding village of Hogsmeade were devastated by a sudden, senseless, incredibly violent calamity. Two weeks since the bizarre and completely unexpected attack ended just as suddenly as it began, leaving in its wake an uncomfortable and dramatic silence. Two weeks since St. Mungo’s Hospital become the de facto headquarters for the Wizarding World in Britain, housing not only the injured government leaders, but also the surviving student population of our most famous academy of magical learning. Two weeks, and still there are no definitive answers resolving the mystery of the incursion. Who? Why? How? There are plenty of theories going around. I have heard them, like all of you, at work, at home, even on the street corner. Everyone is talking about the assault, and everyone seems to have their own pet theory. They run the gamut from the ridiculous and preposterous to the downright believable and frightening. Albus Dumbledore had something the attacker was after, and took it from Hogwarts to the Ministry of Magic, chased by the strange, dark wizard. Though some silly speculation has been cast about suggesting the Headmaster of Hogwarts fled the attack on his school, this particular theory is, in fact, supported by statements by some students who saw Dumbledore leaving the castle shortly before the attack. Or The attacker was an insane former employee of the Department of Mysteries, bent upon revenge, trying to assassinate the Minister of Magic himself for issuing a pink slip. Or how about The attacker was a surviving soldier of an old enemy faction, a Man In Orange, or a Witch Hunter, trying to reacquire the Stones of Power, or add more of them to his arsenal. Or The attacker was a rogue Auror, using technology from the Department of Mysteries in a magical, weaponized suit of armor, who needed to break into the DoM to steal more resources or ammunition. The last example does force one to wonder what, exactly, the Department of Mysteries has been keeping from us all these years. Another theory even goes The attacker’s magical armor was designed to be a wand in and of itself, perhaps even independent of the wearer. The implications of this last theory are astounding. It would add credence to eyewitness accounts stating the attacker was able to cast hexes wandlessly. And, if the armor was enchanted with such powerful, innate capabilities, would the suit's wearer even need to be especially powerful at all? Official sources seem to be as much in the dark as anyone. Phester Hortonwhaller, the Ministry Press Secretary, has informed us the attacker was, by all indicators, working alone. Everything the authorities have determined about the attacker is totally unique. No clues point to the requisite involvement of anyone else, anywhere. But how could this be possible? The idea that one, lone attacker, no matter how well equipped, and no matter how powerful, or psychopathic, could achieve such a devastating rampage against the most powerful defenders we have, and perhaps have ever had, is simply too earth shattering to be true. The idea flies so squarely in the face of logic and reason that it must therefore be utter hogwash, or how could we accept as truth anything else we have been told and taught to believe? If one man, as yet unidentified, and by all accounts so far, unidentifiable, was able to acquire and deploy such incredibly and effectively powerful resources against us, might not someone else? If the attacker was merely a soldier, or even merely a pawn in someone else’s agenda, much larger and murkier questions remain totally unaddressed. Might this tense period of silence, this deliberating peace, be merely a harbinger of things to come? A precursor to some greater, more terrible catastrophe? There is only one thing I can tell you for certain. Only one thing I can promise to know. The Daily Prophet will continue to plumb the depths of this mystery, leaving no stone unturned, in our own, independent quest to bring every facet of these dangerous states of affairs to light. It is my sincere hope that more factually informed readers will be better able to decide for themselves how to keep their families safe from harm. My own father, our previous editor, would have had it no other way. Yours obediently, Warbuckle Tidalbottom XIV ******************************* // Astute readers will observe a noticeably toned-down piece by Rita Skeeter from the same, March 16th Sunday Edition (her regular running column). There is no mention of students dating professors. Not even Alistair. //

March 20th, Page 3 Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry In Ruins And Red Tape Mysterious Hogwarts Castle Is Also A Political Quagmire___________________ How the Rise and Fall of Goblin Fortunes Looms Over Reconstructionby Guster BlogthornThe Hogwarts castle, one of the most beloved in all of Britain, perhaps in the Wizarding world, remains in a state of total ruination. It is a strange sight to see a coordinated effort by highly trained Magical Law Enforcement officers to recover the personal property and private possessions of hundreds of students from the chaos of such a cyclopean heap of rubble. Students’ pets, some still living, and others not so fortunate, are cradled by fearsome, grim-faced officers so swathed in charred muck and ash their Ministry uniforms are barely recognizable. Not all of the survivors of Hogwarts will be pleased. Some have yet more loss in store. Gryffindors, in particular it seems, will have lost nearly everything. Gryffindor tower has collapsed beyond any recognition. Only a jagged peak of stone survives, where a stairway once existed. It is said survivors were pulled from that pocket of crushed rock, where they cowered, trapped, on those stairs for days. To the west, the Ravenclaw tower stands precariously. Cracks are visible in the masonry, particularly at the corners and outside face, where it appears to have been struck by falling debris from the other towers. No one dares ascend that isolated monument to its aerie pinnacle, for fear of adding to the monstrous pile below. The former residence of Hufflepuff House lies crushed beneath the fallen castle, largely collapsed and inaccessible. Slytherin House is said to be largely intact, located as it is beneath Black Lake, rather than beneath the castle proper. However, the passage to access it is incredibly hazardous, since so much of the castle dungeons along the way have been obliterated. Rumors of its flooding seem to have been falsely reported. The Astronomy Tower, formerly the tallest tower of the castle, appears to have fallen over completely, perhaps all at once, as though it jumped to avoid the destruction about to envelop it. So much known about Hogwarts it could fill a book, and indeed it does. Hogwarts, A History, a long-time best seller, has received few updates since its original publication in 1948. The problem is there is so much that is even yet unknown about Hogwarts—even to the current Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago—the precise date is uncertain—by the four greatest wizards of the age. The four school houses are named after them: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. There are entire areas of the castle which were never charted. Legend has it, Salazar Slytherin himself added at least one secret chamber. It is conceivable that all of the founders did so. The architecture of the castle was itself impermanent and mutable. Rooms moved locations, or disappeared and reappeared at unknown intervals. The castle and its complex jumble of towers and battlements was supported by magical enchantments and goblin engineering. Ordinary Muggle builders—even modern, sophisticated Muggle architects and engineers—could never manage such construction. In fact, Muggles have never even been able to see the Hogwarts castle. When viewed, Muggles could only see a crumbling pile of rubble and a sign warning them of danger. Surely the irony is lost on no one. Negotiations for the repairs and reconstruction of Hogwarts have been underway ever since we began to recover from the tragic destruction amidst the still-unexplained attacks of March 1st. Unfortunately, those negotiations have been hindered by key players required for its rise from the ashes. Centuries of political unrest among the goblin elite, and between goblins and wizards, have made the world’s supreme metalworkers loathe to contribute without fair compensation. Ministry and goblin officials seem to have irreconcilable differences when it comes to defining fair compensation. Relations between goblins and wizards have been strained for centuries, because of already well-documented misunderstandings on both sides. On notable historical occasions, there has been terrible violence between goblins and wizards. Wizarding law prohibits the ownership or use of wands by goblins. However, Goblins, like some other races, have their own, different brand of magic. Nevertheless, wizards have always prevailed in the end, and as a result, the goblins believe they have always been relegated to less desirable positions in an oppressive society, as second-class citizens of the Wizarding world. To a goblin, the true ownership of any object is its maker, rather than its purchaser. Goblins cannot fathom why wizards and witches fail to issue payments for goblin-made artifacts and heirlooms when they are passed down from generation to generation. By that line of reasoning, Hogwarts castle itself should have been paying rent to the goblins for a millennium. Now, the Ministry of Magic requires emergency assistance from goblin builders. And the goblins seem to be sensing an opportunity to see old grievances addressed. Some of them, at least, hope to see righted the past transgressions of countless generations of wizards and witches against their entire race. Obviously, this is a price Wizarding society could never bear, even if it was justified. So, there is a political stalemate, and the fate of Hogwarts rests in the balance.

July 23rd, Page 1 Ministry Coverup Revealed around Hogwarts and Ministry Destruction Inside source reveals all, answers all questions that the Ministry has refused to answer for months ___________________ Motive and means revealed by Rita SkeeterAs I sit here I am shaking from the tip of my quill to the bottom of my broom! Yours truly, Rita Skeeter, has just uncovered a story so fantastical, so unbelievable, so huge that I feel it is my utter duty to inform the public. After doing due-dilligence and scouring my sources tirelessly on your behalf, I managed to procure a one time only secret meeting with a man who must remain unnamed or his very life could be at risk. Yes, good readers of the Daily Prophet, the story was so huge it has been the cause of a major cover up from the bottom of the broom bristle cleaners to the tippity top of the peak of Hogwarts most glorious tower. A cover up that possibly spans to the highest tier of the Ministry of Magic itself. First we must begin with the man who destroyed so many of our most wondrous wizarding treasures. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogsmeade and our very own Ministry of Magic building. What's more, the scores upon scores of men, women and prescious children who so tragically lost their lives, and the families they left behind only to remain forever scarred. The Ministry claims it stopped the destroyer. That Headmaster Dumbledore himself was to be praised for the destroyer's ultimate demise. But have any of us seen evidence to prove this? Why was the destroyers body kept so hidden that even the press was not allowed to verify the validity of this so-called “story?” According to a source from within the Ministry itself, a whistleblower who risks life and limb to bring us this information, it is because the destroyer actually got away! Not only this, but he got away with the very items he was willing to destroy so much to obtain. The questions on many of our minds are “Who was this man?” “What was he after?” and “Why was a peaceful school targeted?” The Daily Prophet has answers to all these questions and more! Firstly, the truth will shock many of you as it surely did me, but I have uncovered the truth. According to our anonymous source, “All indications tell us that [the destroyer] arrived from at least 200 years in the future. This is unprecedented, but those are the facts. It happened.” Secondly, what was The Destroyer after? “Time turners. He was after time turners. It explains everything about his war path.” And lastly, WHY was our beloved school targeted? We have only one man to blame. Headmaster Albus Dumbledore kept a time turner in his office and we have evidence the destroyer hunted this device down and blasted his way through anything and anyone that got in his way. This should make us all question the wisdom of Albus to keep such a valuable item where young children are put in harms way. But of course he denied me an interview, little more than further proof of a cover up. After the destroyer claimed the time turner at Hogwarts he proceeded on to the Ministry were he was able to capture all three of the remaining time turners from within the Department of Mysteries, as our source explains: “His last stop was the Department of Mysteries. He was able to get to the remaining time turners and steal them all, and then vanished. Dumbledore's claim of victory against the man is absolutely false. He got away.” Just HOW was this man able to -get- deep into the Department of Mysteries where they were kept safe? According to our source it is simple. “It was an inside job. He had help from somebody.” And yet another source to corroborate “I saw the future man speak to another hooded man!” This proves it was an inside job. Now that we know the destroyer made a full escape with the time turners, we are left wondering “when” he will return. What other dubious and harmful plans does this man have to inflict upon us? And why is the Ministry covering it up so vigorously? All they would need to do is produce the time turners which according to them were not stolen at all, but they refuse to do so. Or perhaps the armor itself, or even a body of the destroyer. Ministry officials have refused to comment. Stay tuned and trust me that I will continue working tirelessly to bring you all breaking information as I learn it!

Hogwarts Repairs Complete Thanks to Goblin Help, as Ministry Leaves Goblin Stranded in the Future
Goblins furious after botched expedition to the future has left one of thier own stranded
By Jake Johnson
In the recent weeks, the repair of Hogwarts has been sped up drastically due to the gracious assistance of the goblins above and beyond what they had been contracted to do. Just yesterday the castle was declared complete, and the process of moving students back to the school has begun with students expected to arrive late next week.
But on the heels of this wonderful news comes a brutal slap in the face to the goblins.
According to the goblins, the Ministry offered a hand of cooperation to the goblins in an inviation to send one of their own along with a Ministry official to the future in an apparent attempt at recreating the missing time turners. The goblins accepted the invitation only to see their expedition member stranded on the other side in what the goblins are declaring "just another example of the corrupt, inept and incompetent ways of the Ministry of Magic. It makes us wonder if this was wholly intentional." Ministry officials have refused to comment, also declining to deny the event happened.

Menagerie Robbed, Thief Still at Large By Ronald Wortson
Peaceful Diagon Alley, London's premier wizarding shopping district, was rocked by a shocking theft the afternoon of Friday the 11th of September. The Magical Menagerie, known for its dealing in rare and unique creatures, was the victim of a heist, during which a Fire Crab specimen was taken. Mrs. Goodmane, the owner of the Menagerie, told the Prophet that the Fire Crab was being held for an unnamed buyer to pick up later this week.
Fire Crabs are a protected species under international wizarding law, meaning that while trade in them is legal, owners must have obtained the proper permits from the Ministry of Magic. While these creatures have some dangerous properties, they are within the abilities of any trained witch or wizard to handle, and should not be considered a threat to society. Mrs. Goodmane speculates that the theft was motivated by profit, rather than intent to use the creature as a weapon, as a prime Fire Crab specimen can go for several hundred galleons.
The suspect has been identified as a white male, aged approximately fourteen to seventeen, 170-180 cm in height, average build, wearing a Hogwarts uniform in Ravenclaw colors - blue and bronze - and a hood. Suspect was last spotted fleeing on foot, then by floo, through Knockturn Alley to the village of Ottery St. Catchpole. A reward will be offered for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect or recovery of the animal.

Full Moon Terror: Werewolves Strike! Assault on Hogwarts! Death in Hogsmeade! Daily Prophet Exclusive! By Rita Skeeter
*The headline photograph is of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore standing outside of the entrance hall, beside the front doors. The wooden doors is clawed, the dirt around the whole entrance area dug up, and there are animal tracks all over the ground.*
Late last night Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was assaulted by werewolves! Sources from within the school say that they were summoned to their dormitories early in the evening where they were then taken to the Entrance Hall. The following morning I had the exclusive chance to interview some of the students of Hogwarts who were there that night, to get the inside scoop, exclusive for the Daily Prophet!
“It was horrifying! There were howls and wolves all night. I think I will have nightmares for weeks!” recounted an anonymous first year, clearly still traumatized from her harrowing experience. Another third year spoke of their experience, telling the story of how Headmaster Dumbledore saved his students just in the nick of time. “Headmaster Dumbledore entered the Hall just in time, another few seconds and the monsters would have smashed the glass and gotten in!”
Here at the Prophet, we were able to determine that the werewolves left the school at some point during the night, moving to Hogsmeade Village, where a body was found that morning. Magical Law Enforcement officers on scene would not comment on the circumstances of the victim’s death or reports of werewolves in the area the previous night, only confirming that the victim was a male, not a Hogwarts student, and died during the early hours of the morning.
So what do our readers believe, are werewolves truly just victims of a curse who deserve to be treated as equals? Or are they dangerous, bloodthirsty, and a menace to society? What will the ministry do to curb such senseless attacks? Exactly how convenient was it that Headmaster Dumbledore arrived just at the critical moment to save the day? We at the Daily Prophet won't stop digging until we've uncovered the truth, and will, as always, keep our readers posted.
// Thanks to Collin for the first draft! I paragraphized, de-5-amed it, and extra-skeetered it up, but the basic flow of it was his work.

Werewolves Strike Again! Rampage through London! Hogwarts student attacked! By: Christopher Drake
*The headline photograph is of Borgin and Burke's shop in Knockturn Alley, the front window shattered outwards as if something had broken out of it*
Those who believed the werewolves had calmed down were in for a rough awakening last night, as the peace of Diagon Alley in London was shattered when a rogue werewolf rampaged through the popular shopping destination.
"It was terrible," said Gladys Witherbark, who was enjoying a tea in the Leaky Cauldron when the werewolf arrived. "Everybody was screaming, and curses were going everywhere! It's no way to get anything done, that is. Miracle nobody was hurt."
Reports claim that a Hogwarts student, Lydia Spinson, was assaulted in Knockturn Alley, where she was doing some shopping. However, sources within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry claim that the werewolf did not manage to land a bite or a scratch on the student, and that she would recover without any permanent harm.
The werewolf was tracked from its origin in Knockturn Alley, through Diagon Alley, and out into the streets of London, where MLE lost its trail. "We have leads," MLE Chief Verdun told the Prophet, "and we will follow them until we get some answers. There is no excuse for this level of violence, not anymore. We will get to the bottom of this, and prevent any further attacks."

Gilderoy Lockhart: Gilded Robes For a Brilliant Mind By Winnie Cockleford
*an article tucked far away in the fashion pages of today's daily prophet features no other than a headshot of Gilderoy Lockhart's smiling face!*
Beloved Gilderoy Lockhart has made news once again this week with the debut of his new tailor! Mister Sean Rickson is credited with stitching and enchanting Gilderoy's new garments, which have been described as robes adorned with the finest golden threads known to wizardkind.
"All those possessing the greatest intelligence will be able to see through the illusion," Mister Rickson, a recent graduate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Gilderoy Lockhart teaches, told the Prophet. "It is a weakness of the spell, of course. The majority will see my work as I intended, to showcase the true brilliance of Gilderoy Lockhart."

Prisoners Escape Azkaban
Ministry Press Conference Reveals Little By Rita Skeeter
*Below the Headline there would be a Photo of Gwen Summers, head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and Auror Offices standing behind a Podium addressing the crowd.*
Early this morning the Ministry held a press conference giving few details on the events of a recent breakout at Azkaban. They gave no indication of how the breakout took place. They did inform us at the Prophet in a special interview that up to eight prisoneers escaped! (See more on Azkaban Prison on Page Eight.) The Ministry did not release the names of the escapes prisoners to us at the Prophet, they said they were going to make a release of these themselves later today.
The Ministry refused to comment on our questions about how the escape took place or for how long these escapees have been missing from their cells. They did comment that there is no need to worry. I personally spoke with individuals that talked of the Men In Orange attacks that have taken place in the past and the Ministry's inability to handle that situation. (More on The Men in Orange on page twelve.) We at the Prophet believe that the Ministry is going to to the best of their ability find and stop these criminals before anything may happen.
During the release the Ministry did comment that if you are to see these criminals you are to calmly remove yourself from the area and then report them to the nearest Magical Law Enforcement Officer, or to their office at the ministry via owl. The Department for Magical Law Enforcement is also saying that they will place extra officers in public places. This places include but are not limited to Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, and Hogsmeade Village. They also released a statement that their will be a reward for any relevant information on the criminals that have escaped. (See more on page four.)

Dementors Causing Havoc in London!
Calls for the use of dementors to be discontinued, questions over the Ministry handling of the breakout
There have been reports of a public outcry against what the public has been calling an excessive use of dementors in the last three weeks following the escape of several prisoners in Azkaban, The Ministry has defended the use of dementors and has insisted that they are necessary to round up the escapees.
But there has been a growing number of instances of dementors striking out at the wrong targets, not staying stationed where they are assigned to and gilding about wherever they please and rendering many locations as miserable to live in.
One resident of Hogsmeade was commented saying "I would rather just the aurors do their bloody jobs instead of relying on these abominations!"
Indeed that the Ministry has still not answered a lot of questions about the breakout, about who exactly has escaped, who they suspect did it and why is it that they seem to be leaning towards using dementors so heavily. The Department for Magical Law Enforcement was reached out to for comment but they have still refused to make any additional comments about the case, commenting that the situation is still under control and that is no cause for alarm.
As much as the Ministry is claiming that everything is fine, on the contrary the writers and the public have serious doubts with these claims. Let us remind the ministry and the readers that never in the Ministry history that anyone has escaped Azkaban, let alone 8 prisoners at the same time, this fact is already extremely alarming, and also like recently with the Man in Armour incident, very little facts have been presented, could this possibly have a connection to the man in armour? Was it an inside job? Or something even more sinister that is the reason that they are not willing to talk, or perhaps the entire situation is extremely embarrassing that not commenting is better then to actually admit their exact reason of this travesty.
Fear not dear reader, for we will continue to follow this story and dig further to find the truth in all this mess.
