So the Borrowers is on Netflix and I decided to take a break from my essay to watch it. It wasn't until I started watching and I realized that Peagreen Clock and Exterminator Jeff look very familiar...

It wasn't until just now that I realized Malfoy (Tom Felton) and Arthur Weasely (Mark Williams) are in that movie! Oh! And that kid from Jumanji! My mind was blown today!

My mom wouldn't let me see Jumanji because she thought it would scare me. But she bought me the novelization, and didn't care at all that I read it. And it did give me nightmares, fwiw, but that whole thing still makes me lol.

You should watch Jumanji. I think everybody should watch Robin Williams in that movie.

I don't remember it well, but I did watch it. What was so scary?

There were giant spiders and wasps and crap in the book, iirc. Also, the whole melting into floor-goo scene.

Parts of it were supposed to be scary, to convey the dangers of playing such an interactive game! ;)
That movie is a fond childhood memory of mine, I still love it.

And for the sake of getting this thread back on track....
Today I got an email from school saying "WARNING! You may be in danger of failing such-and-such class" because of the poor grade I got on the last test. I went online to check the grade and it's currently an 84%. >.>
Get your facts straight, school!

Someone I found on the internet discussing what happens when you're DMing and plots get away from you:

Quote:
"Okay, so I just started a brand new GURPS campaign this Saturday. The players are (ostensibly) superheroes, similar to Doom Patrol. There's a big prison break, and one of the villains can control time, and sends them back to the 70s. They land in a warehouse full of crates. When they ask what's inside, I blank, and say without thinking "Cocaine and weapons".

This is where things get ugly. To go along with the drug warehouse feel, I have two thugs come in, talking to each other about someone called Big D. This is all completely off the cuff, and has nothing to do with the plot I origininally wrote. They kill the two thugs, then decide to try to track down Big D. They go outside on to the street and begin questioning civilians, and, when they don't answer, killing them. They hijack a car, kill a couple of cops, rob a store, then flee. They then use their powers to begin selling cocaine to the city.

So, in three hours, the campaign has gone from Doom Patrol in 2012 to The Wire in 1973. I dun goofed."

EDIT: Also, this. Strong language and a bit of general 4chan-ness(I believe that's where it originated), but the actual story posts aren't bad, just try to skim past the stupid comments. But, seriously great story...creepy DMing done right. :) (Ooh, this page purports to have the entire thing copied out without the inane in-line commentary, you might prefer that.)

Maybe I should just make a random things yendys finds on the internet thread, so I don't have to keep spamming this one? >_>

Why? It's an excellent metaphor for impending womanhood and loss of innocence, a very powerful role as far as fairy tales go. (I assume it's in a play or something?) :P
