--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Harley "That Short Kid I Make Do My Homework" Randers.

House: Ravenclaw.

Heritage: Muggle-Born

Favorite Subjects: Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms.

Despised Subjects: Muggle Studies

Favorite Teacher: None. Harley tends to be one of the most quiet students in the class, and neve approaches a teacher with anything outside of a class. As of such, teachers rarely get to know him terribly well.

Hated Teacher: Snape. Harley's afraid of Snape, whom instantly struck him as some manner of freak.

Status: Sober. For now.

First Magical Encounter: A Cheerio spell.

Dreams and Aspirations: Harley wishes to become a wizard doctor when he finishes at Hogwarts. Though, he wouldn't mind being a Muggle doctor either. However, the one thing he wishes he could do more then anything in the world is to revive the dead. Recently, Harley's been stricken with a desire to speak publicly, to make everyone see his opinions, and he believes he can overcome his fears if he's just given a chance at that.

Physical Appearance: Harley stands at two feet and nine inches tall. Seriously. He's thin to the point it's almost unhealthy because he hardly ever eats; some say it's lazyness, others think that it's due to the way he feels. He has long, black hair which hasn't seen a cut in a while, perhaps because he doesn't want to have to go out into society to get it neatened up. Harley's taken to wearing his hood constantly as he's become very paranoid considering his appearance and other people judging him; it's something of a security blanket to the young wizard.

Fears: People, spiders, failure, death, talking to girls, most magical creatures, Priggo, ghosts, Peeves, poorly cast spells directed towards himself, Proffessor Snape, talking to older kids, dogs, flying broomsticks, Boggarts, his father being disapointed in him, his Muggle-Studies teacher picking him as an example, Flich. Being unheard in his opinions, miscasting spells and thus hurting someone by accident.

Personality: Experience has slowly changed dear little Harley to make him outspoken, though constantly dour. Always looking on the down side of absolutely everything, Harley would instantly strike someone as the sort of person to look at the glass as half empty, as opposed to half full. Though he has developed a sort of compassion towards those in situations similar to his own, rather than being self-centered as he used to be.

History Of Harley:
Born in Ireland, as the midget, Kleptomanic son of an Irish mother and English father. Harley was always teased and bullied because of his mental disorder, his father, and his smallness. He was home-educated due to his over-protective parents. Put simply, he had no friends, and was down-right depressed. He was, however, one of the cleverest kids there were in his street. When he was nine, his family moved to England, because his mother applied for a job there, and was hired. In England, he was still home-educated, and bullied even more due to his accent. Though he did have friends this time! The first was a poor little guy that was born unable to move his legs, perhaps the only person Harley didn't think was better off then him, and the other was some sporty tough guy that stood up for the two little nerds. After a year, though, Harley's father needed to be hospitalized. While he was in hospital, before any doctors had checked him for anything, he told Harley's mother that he had cancer, and didn't tell Harley or Harley's mum before because he didn't want them fussing over him. He died within the year. Fair to say it crushed little Harley, only a week before his eleventh birthday, he had to watch his father's heartbeat monitor turn from a slightly jerking green line, to one that wasn't moving. The child stood there, holding his father's hand, listening to the long 'beep' of the machine. He didn't cry. There are times when you're beyond tears. He was alone after that. His mother was always - ALWAYS - working; sometimes she'd go for months at a time, and only stay for a few days, and it had been like that since they moved to England. "Mum missed dad's funeral because of work..." Eventually, things looked up for the now very sad child. Something left a letter on his windowsill. The letter said he'd been accepted into a school... It was rather odd to him. Though, with directions and instructions that were supplied in the letter, he managed to find his way to Diagon Alley. It wasn't running away, it was just "leaving without asking". He bought all he'd need for the year, then, with the help of some teenagers that'd been going to Hogwarts for a few years already, he managed to stumble his way to the school.

Even though I'll end up changing it in a week, I believe I've finally found the perfect song for Harley.

'Understanding' (Full Length) - Evanescence

"You hold the answers deep within your own mind.
Consciously, you've forgotten it.
That's the way the human mind works.
Whenever something is too unpleasant, to shameful for us
to entertain, we reject it.
We erase it from our memories.
But the imprint is always there."

(Can't wash it all away)
(Can't Wish it all away)
(Can't hope it all away)
(Can't cry it all away)

The pain that grips you
The fear that binds you
Releases life in me
In our mutual
Shame we idolize
To blind them from the truth
That finds a way from who we are
Please don't be afraid
When the darkness fades away
The dawn will break the silence
Screaming in our hearts
My love for you still grows
This I do for you
Before I try to fight the truth my final time

"We're supposed to try and be real.
And I feel alone, and we're not together. And that is real."

Can't wash it all away
Can't wish it all away
Can't cry it all away
Can't scratch it all away

Lying beside you
Listening to you breathe
The life that flows inside of you
Burns inside of me
Hold and speak to me
Of love without a sound
Tell me you will live through this
And I will die for you
Cast me not away
Say you'll be with me
For I know I cannot
Bear it all alone

"You're not alone, honey."
"Never... Never."

Can't fight it all away
Can't hope it all away
Can't scream it all away
It just won't fade away
No, no...

Can't wash it all away
Can't wish it all away
Can't cry it all away
Can't scratch it all away

Can't fight it all away
Can't hope it all away
Can't scream it all away
Ooh, it all away
Ooh, it all away
It all away

"But the imprint is always there. Nothing is ever really forgotten."
"Because I'm dying too."
"Because I'm dying too."
"Because I'm dying too."
"Because I'm dying too."
"Because I'm dying too."

'Freak On A Leash' - Korn (More the edition featuring Amy Lee, but whatever)

Something takes a part of me
Something lost and never seen
Every time I start to believe
Something's raped and taken from me
From me.
Life's kind'a always been messing with me
(You wanna see the light)
Can't they chill and let me be free?
(So do I.)
Can't I take away all this pain?
(You wanna see the light)
I try to every night all in vain
In vain

Sometimes I can not take this place
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste
Sometimes I can not feel my face
You'll never see me fall from grace
Something takes a part of me
You and I were meant to be
A cheap f*** for me to lay
Something takes a part of me...

Feeling like a freak on a leash
(You wanna see the light)
Feeling like I have no release
(So do I.)
How many times have I felt diseased?
(You wanna see the light)
Nothing in my life is free
Is free.

Sometimes I can not take this place
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste
Sometimes I can not feel my face
You'll never see me fall from grace
Something takes a part of me
You and I were meant to be
A cheap f*** for me to lay
Something takes a part of me...

Sometimes I can not take this place
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste
Sometimes I can not feel my face
You'll never see me fall from grace
Something takes a part of me
You and I were meant to be
A cheap f*** for me to lay
Something takes a part of me...

'Nemo' - Nightwish

This is me for forever
One of the lost ones
The one without a name
Without an honest heart as compass
This is me for forever
One without a name
These lines the last endeavor
To find the missing life-line

Oh, how I wish for soothing rain
All I wish to dream again
My loving heart, lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything

My flower
Withered between the pages two and three
The once and forever bloom
Gone with my sins
Walk the dark path
Sleep with angels
Call the past for help
Touch me with your love
And reveal to me my true name

Oh, how I wish for soothing rain
All I wish to dream again
My loving heart, lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
Oh, how I wish for soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo my name forever...

Oh, how I wish for soothing rain
All I wish to dream again
My loving heart, lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
Oh, how I wish for soothing rain
Oh, how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo my name forever...

'Killing Me - Drowning Pool

Like cigarettes and gasoline
I light a match and watch the scene
Burn away in front of me
The ashes of my misery

I swear sometimes I think this life is killing me
(This life is killing me)
I swear sometimes I think this life is killing me

And I swear it's killing me
All my shattered hopes
And long-dead dreams
The wreakage that we all try to keep
From coming to life
And tearing us apart in the seams

Sun-bruised bones and withered trees
Slowly rotting, just like me
Empty bottles, broken glass
My resolve is fading fast

I swear it's killing me
All my shattered hopes
And long-dead dreams
The wreakage that we all try to keep
From coming to life
And tearing us apart at the seams
At the seams
At the seams

'A Slow Decent' - The Butterfly Effect

Picture yourself
By yourself
No tomorrow, yesterday
Drowning in your own decay
You'll never be alone, this time...

So follow the trend
Break or bend
It's your funeral, long goodbye
Shut tight an open eye
You'll never be alone

Over out
It's all over out
It's a slow decay
You'll never be alone

In the shade of the fire
No desire for the comfort
Pleasure's pain
Lost on your motorway
Just look the other way

And the greater the drain
Force and gain
It's a push to stall within
Cornered by the cinder's sin
Just look the other way

Over out
It's all over out
It's a slow decay
You'll never be alone
Over out
It's all over out
It's a slow decay
You'll never even know

All has begun
And the anti is calling
Over the edges and in through your walls
And it's harder to win
And harder to take
As we live for the day we're no longer awake

And it's over out
It's all over out
It's a slow decay
You'll never be alone
Over out
It's all over now
And on your way down
All is lost, on your way down...

'It's All Over' - Three Days Grace

You bottle's almost empty
You know this can't go on
Because of you, my mind is always racing
The needles breaking your skin
The score is sinking in
And now your trip begins, but

It's all over for
It's all over for you
For you
When you're on the edge and falling off
It's all over for you
For you
When you're on the edge and falling off
It's all over

I know what runs through your blood
You do this all in vain
Because of you, my mind is always racing
And it gets under my skin
To see you giving in
And now your trip begins, but

It's all over for
It's all over for you
For you
When you're on the edge and falling off
It's all over for you
For you
When you're on the edge and falling off
It's all over

And now you're dead inside
Still you wonder why
(It's all over)
And now you're dead inside
Still you wonder why
(It's all over)
And now you're dead inside
Still you wonder why
(When you're on the edge and falling off)
It's all over for
(You)
And now you're dead inside
Still you wonder why
(When you're on the edge and falling off)
It's all over for
(You)
And now you're dead inside
Still you wonder why
(It's all over)

'Never Too Late' - Three Days Grace

This world will never be what I expected
And if I don't belong, who would've guessed it?

I will not leave alone, everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late
It's never too late

Even if I say, it'll be alright
Still I hear you say, you want to end your life
Now and again we try, to just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late.

No one will ever see, this side reflected
And if there's something wrong, who would've guessed it?
And I have left alone, everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late
It's never too late

Even if I say, it'll be alright
Still I hear you say, you want to end your life
Now and again we try, to just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late

The world we knew, won't come back
The time we've lost, can't get back
The life we had, won't be
'Cause I can't...

This world will never be, what I expected
And if I don't belong...

Even if I say, it'll be alright
Still I hear you say, you want to end your life
Now and again we try, to just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
It's not too late
It's never too late...

'Comfortably Numb' - Pink Floyd

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Hey, now
I hear you're feeling down
I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax, I need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain
You are receeding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through the waves
Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child, I had a feaver
My hands felt just like too balloons
Now I've got the feeling once again
I can't explain
You would not understand
This is not how I am...

I have become, comfortably numb...
I have become, comfortably numb.

Okay.
Just a little pin-prick
There'lll be no more - Aaaaaarh
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working
Good.
That'll keep you going for the show
Come on, it's time to go

There is no pain
You are receeding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through the waves
Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimps
Out of the corner of my eye
I can not put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone

I have become, comfortably numb.

'For The Heart I Once Had' - Nightwish

Heaven today is far away
To a place I once called home
Heart of a child, one final sigh
As another love goes cold

Once my heart beat to the
Rhythm of the falling snow
Blackened below, the river now flows
A stream on mountain virgin snow

For the heart I'll never have
For the child forever gone
The music flows because it loves
For the heart I once had

Even today with all the pains
To understand the weight of the world
Faded and torn, old and forlorn
My weak and hoping heart

For the child, for the night
For the heart I once had
I believe and foresee
Everything I could ever be

For the heart I'll never have
For the child forever gone
The music flows because it loves
For the heart I once had

Time will not heal a dead boy
Time will kill

For the heart I'll never have
For the child forever gone
The music flows because it longs
For the heart I once had

Harley's learning ability:
While he may seem as a dumbard at times, Harley is actually excellent at learning new things. He has an amazing memory, and often reads through his school text books for fun. Although he's hesitant to try new spells, perhaps because he's afraid he'll do them wrong and harm himself. Harley's image of stupidity is mostly caused by his lack of social ability.

First Year. The almost-never-ending story.

All throughout first year, Harley was shy and quiet. Few got to know him, and he became a voiceless face around the school. He found that though he could do his class work wonderfully, he always struggled with homework; mainly because he was doing it for four or five people at once. Himself and several much larger, meaner kids whom wouldn't simply cast a Jellylegs at him; they'd kick his [censored] across Hogwarts.

Though he origionally met his first friend, Alabaster, when he came to Hogwarts, it was Al whom served as his mentor and inspiration with magic when he needed it. Though for the sake of appearing completely heterosexual, Harley would never admit it.

Harley met Priggo with Al. He instantly made himself appear a fool by giving the Muggle explanation of depression: A lack of fluoxetine flowing between cells within the brain, and thus the chemical not reaching the part of the brain it needs to in order to trigger certain emotions. Al and Priggo had a good laugh, called Harley cute, and explained that depression was actually caused by dementors. Harley, not having half a clue as to what dementors are, thought that they were wrong, though he didn't say anything.

Alabaster helped Harley with much of his homework through first year, if not all of it. Harley, being greatful for his only friend lightening the load of his burdens, soon discovered that he was thanking Alabaster on a daily basis.

Al also witnessed the result of Harley casting his first spell! He froze a pixie. He then went into waves of guilt after having killed what he origionally thought to be a sweet and innocent creature.

(Yes, that all happened in-game at some point of another. I have a badass memory, aparently.)

Quite clearly, Al was an important part of Harley's life through first year.
(That, and, I wanted to make Priggo feel less special.)

Reasoning:

The world is dark. It's like walking through a cave, which no light can enter. You can never turn back; all you can do is either keep walking, or stop. Though what keeps people walking down this tunnel that is life, seeking light at the end, is a spark. Nothing too bright. It only lasts for a second. But it's something worth continuing for.

Paddy:
Created partually by Harley's loneliness, partually by his inability to keep friends, and partually by his controlled insanity, Paddy is something like an imaginary friend to Harley. Although, the imaginary figure isn't quite as friendly as Harley would like. Manipulative and cold, Paddy often instructs Harley to do something less than kind or polite. Paddy, ("Short for Patrick"), appears to have taken a personality and life of his own over the years. Though, to what would be his displeasure, he holds not control over Harley, as well as being fully aware that Harley could destroy him at any instant by simply... Not believing in him any longer. As of this, he constantly attempts to manipulate Harley into doing cruel things so that Harley will be further shunned, and thus need someone to consult. When he comes crying back to his room, Paddy would be there waiting with a box of imaginary tissues.

Paddy's own actions usually seem very well-presented, though lacking in any emotion. He speaks kindly, though the voice Harley subconciously created him with makes him seem cold, hateful, and bitter. As desperate as Harley is, the young boy doesn't simply disbelieve his creation for two reasons; firstly, he doesn't know that Paddy is his creation, and thinks of it as a magical creature of sorts which has taken a liking to him. And secondly, as lonely as Harley is, he wouldn't perticularly wish to send away what may be his only friend.

Paddy seems to prefer to appear in other forms, though none of them are ever, ever visible to anyone but Harley. It's simply impossible; Paddy exists in Harley's mind, no one else's. Regardless, the ones he seems to favor would be cats of all sorts, a copy of Harley himself, or one of Harley's parents.

Socks
Image

Socks. Standing with the top of her body at five inches from the ground, Socks clearly isn't terribly tall. Though she is, more or less, ten inches from nose to tail tip. Socks is Harley's pet cat, obviously enough, and happens to be serving as his familiar during his time at Hogwarts. The cat is just as old as Harley, at twelve years. Giving her at least four years left, should no foul play occur. Having grown alongside Harley since she was but a kitten, Socks is incredibly tolerant of people handling her in a vast number of ways. Whilst she generally expressed distrust of strangers, Socks would follow Harley willingly like a trained dog on a leash. However, in her old age, the cat would rather sit about sleeping. Well, more so than cats usually do, anyway. Her appetite is matched only by her sheer love of lying about aimlessly in the sun, and swatting at Harley's owl, 'Flapperbeak'. Her coat is mostly white, with splashes of black around her head, along her back, and on her paws. In fact, the change of colouring on her paws is what earned her the name 'Socks'.

Flapperbeak
Image

Named for his irritatingly talkative nature, Flapperbeak is Harley's owl. Origionally only bought so Harley could send a letter to his mother, Flapperbeak seems to feel a brotherly bond with Harley. So much so that he attempts to tell Harley what he should write whenever he begins a letter, and leans over his shoulder to see what's written on the paper before him. Suffice to say, Flapperbeak can not speak beyond obnoxious hoots, or even read- That doesn't prevent the owl from behaving as though he can, though. Flapperbeak and Socks seem to be locked in a bitter fued for Harley's attention constantly. Socks would try to jump on Flapperbeak, and Flapperbeak would try to peck Sock's tiny nose.
