The girl entered the silent, chilling courtyard. The moon was bright that night, shining a clear path ahead of her, but the girl prefered the small sphere of blue light being projected from the tip of her wand. She pulled back the chestnut curls from her face and looked around slowly, a look of despair on her face. She had lost something...

She brushed through the many plants and flowers surrounding the nearby fountain, desperately searching for the item she had misplaced. A few moments passed and without any luck. The girl sighed, returning indoors with a disappointed expression. She knew breaking curfew for the third time this week was bad, but she was in dire need of the item she had continously failed to recover. So important it was, it pushed her to such extremes.

As she entered the common room, she passed the usual students who were settled on the sofas and chairs. Lovers were sat together, embracing eachother tightly. She cast a brief glance their way, breathing a quick sigh and proceeding below to the pool room.

The petite girl ran a hand through the cold, rippling water. Her hazel eyes rested on the surface, as she lifelessly watched her reflexion produce tears, which trickled down her cheek.

Finally, after what seemed an age of perfect silence, she stood up and made her way back towards the exit. She had moved maybe ten paces, till she was frozen in her movement by a voice so soft, yet so boy-like.

"Please don't leave, Amélie..."

She turned reluctantly, fearing whoever had spoken had seen her sulking. The boy was slim and crouched in the corner of the room, his jet-black hair, cut just below the neckline, moving unnaturally in the air. She felt no breeze, surely it was an enchantment?
The most outstanding feature, however, was his eyes; an icy cold blue penetrating straight into her, leaving the girl with a chilling, yet somehow pleasant feeling.

Eventually, she regained composure and managed to utter a few words with the thick French accent she always had,
Who are you, what do you want?...
His gaze remained impassive, whereas hers drifted.
I come here often. He answered simply, his accent English with the faintest American tone.
The girl backed up a few paces, her face turning a sharp crimson,
Just leave me alone! Her tone rising, biting out at the boy.
He, however, remained crouched, watching her in silence, his expression ever impossible to read, even after the sudden outburst from the French girl.
Irritated by the silence and growing increasingly nervous as each second passed, the girl did what came naturally to her; she ran.

It was late by the time she had made her way to bed. Thoughts had been clouding her mind from the moment she had made her retreat from the pool room, all of which were centralized around the boy. He, who had been watching her, annoyed her, if not also appealed to her.
Curiosity was flooding the French girl's mind.
Curiosity, with the bitter taste of paranoia...
