Sometimes it can be hard to come up with stuff that happened to your character while you were offline. I've had a request to share my personal list that I use for inspiration, so I spent a bit of time today fleshing it out and making it legible to people who are not me. The best way to use it is as inspiration, randomizing scenarios until something strikes your fancy, but feeling free to substitute your own ideas or put your own spin on it. The whole point of this is to give your RP the spark it needs to get going, not to issue a challenge that must be completed to the letter. To use this list, I recommend this online thing picker. Simply copy the entire list under the heading into the text box, and press "pick a random item." If you encounter a placeholder such as $PERSON or $PLACE, that means you should locate the list in question in the next post(do a CTRL+F for "~PERSON~", etc, to jump straight to that list) and use the thing picker to choose from it. Feel free to click as many times as you need to if your results aren't making sense(you didn't meet your 5-year-old sister in the dungeons this morning, nor did you get assigned homework for a class you don't take), again this is inspiration and not a letter-of-the-law challenge. Feel free to reply with feedback, ideas, stuff that never made it onto my list, or particularly amusing prompts that you've generated! Somebody from $HOUSE has been bullying you, and shows no sign of backing off. You committed a $CRIME and got away with it! You committed a $CRIME but were caught by $PROFESSOR, and just finished serving your detention. You were just framed for a $CRIME that you did not commit, and were caught by $PROFESSOR and assigned detention. You had an encounter with $PERSON in $PLACE, which has left you feeling $EMOTION. You had an encounter with Peeves in $PLACE, during which he committed a $PRANK on you. You had an encounter with a student from $HOUSE in $PLACE, during which they committed a $PRANK on you. You have lost $OBJECT and need to find it. There's something new for sale at $SHOP, and you really want it. You read an article in the Daily Prophet this morning about $PERSON which has left you feeling $EMOTION. You are stuck on a seemingly impossible essay for $CLASS. You have been assigned a group project for $CLASS. You have just received an owl from somebody important – for good or bad – from your childhood, which has left you feeling $EMOTION. You have just received an owl with news pertaining to your family, which has left you feeling $EMOTION. You encountered an adult witch or wizard who works in your intended career field, and the conversation left you feeling $EMOTION. You have just had an $ACCIDENT. You read an article in the Daily Prophet this morning about a famous witch or wizard, living or dead, which has inspired you in $CLASS. Rumor has it there's something going down at $PLACE today. |
