Ok seeing as how the server is all about Hogwarts like what was mentioned before when talking about graduation, the way I remember being told by the school rules is that every student is to remain wearing the color that represents their house. But what about when the students get to the age where they're technically supposed to have already graduated from Hogwarts? Seeing as like said before that the HP server is all about Hogwarts then can't our characters be allowed to wear any color clothing they want when they become of age at 17? Since really a wizard only attends Hogwarts for what, 7 or 8 years? (I remember 8th year being an experiment, don't know if we really have an 8th year now), so say even though our characters would still be around Hogwarts, even though they would be like 18 or older, couldn't we be allowed to wear different color clothing when they become of age they're supposed to graduate? |

A wizard comes 'of age' at 17. That means they're allowed to do magic outside of the school, and can learn apparation. It doesn't mean they aren't still students at Hogwarts, and are suddenly no longer required to follow the rules set by the school. They are, however, allowed to leave school grounds; that's another matter. Out of the school, there are no rules, only to wear 'appropriate' clothes (muggle clothes in muggle areas). As for roleplaying graduation, that's basically just retiring your character, as I understand it. |

Lol we'll keep this thread, in case anyone has the same question you did, Jigsaw. What Insanity said was 100% correct. You become of age, but you're still a student at Hogwarts, and have to follow the rules, such as curfew, house colors, and casting when on school grounds. |

I always wondered; do you have to wear House colours on weekends and/or in Hogsmeade? I noticed that Harry, Ron and Hermione just wore their regular clothes in the movies. |

You can wear whatever you want off school grounds. House colors must be worn on school grounds at all times. Movies aren't 100% canon, just be glad you can wear your own clothes and not just robes. |

But regardless, I'll agree: It's not too difficult to wear house colors on school grounds. I did find a loophole. Most jeans are blue, so that only adds to the possibilities! |

Technically speaking, uniforms were supposed to be worn while in class, while studying in the library or common room and while eating in the Great Hall. I consider the server IC rule of 'must have colours' to be more of use more on an OOC level because we hardly ever see each other in class and otherwise wouldn't know what house we're all in. Remember that we generally RP our characters' free time when on the server. |

At one time, way back when, House colors made it easier for the DMs to know where to award or take points. But IC reasons are always nicer. |

I figured as much. What I do is make sure that Bryce's description says his house badge is displayed at all times. He then wears the uniform when he has to. |
