Sykes was born in London, to a poor woman at a homeless shelter, his father unknown. His early years were unremarkable, living on the streets moving from foster home to foster home and getting in trouble. Money and influence quickly became his sole motivation, growing from a basic need for survival.
On his 11th Birthday the young Sykes was given a letter by his Government Worker, a letter to Hogwarts, with little to pack and no one to say goodbye to he left for Hogwarts, learning quickly from the Ministrys records he was a half blood, but to whom was unknown.
A tall young man with long black hair and blue eyes, there is some small scarring on his face and at all time he wears his gloves. He has since grown taller then usual for an 18 year old and the shadow of blue black stubble has spread over his face. Broad shoulders and a barrel chest gives him the appearance of someone older, and stronger.
Defense Against the Dark Arts has become his favorite subject often lingering about the classroom.
At 16 he took a long absence from Hogwarts over christmas, returning a few months into the year for unspecified reasons, he had taken to keeping his arm hidden behind his coat. A tattered fading chocolate brown overcoat, two sizes too big. After a few weeks back it appeared Sykes has left Hogwarts, to those who know he has taken an exchange programme to Durmstrang, with his long time friend Becker. This would perhaps explain the fervent energy with which he had taken to his subjects, even those he was once bad at, like Potions.
Now in his last year at Hogwarts he has taken on a great deal of responsibility and extra classes in addition to his NEWT work. He seems to rarely sleep, at most his rest time seems to be meditation undertaken with the Centaur Firenze.
