Post subject: | Nathan Wager |
Ravenclaw Second Year Birthday: June 22nd Age: 12 years old Hair: Red Eyes: Blue Height: 1.56 meters Weight: ~7 stones (50KG, 108 pounds) Build: average Blood status: More than Half-blood Handedness: Left hand Favourite Colour: Blue Favourite Sport: Soccer Locality: Macclesfield, Cheshire, England (south of Manchester) ___Nathan Wager was one of the many children born of the mini baby boom, a period of prosperity in the wake of the death of you-know-who. Born to a full-blood mother and a half-blood father, he spent a surprising amount of time in a rather mundane public school. He always enjoyed the classes and even the students well enough. However it was in first grade that he found out he was a wizard. ___One day getting home from school, he found both of his parents on the sofa grinning at him. When they first told him he thought it was a joke at first ("You're pulling my leg- aren't ya' mum!") but they just kept grinning. His father produced his wand from the pocket off his coat and proceeded to cast a patronus charm of a large beagle, which darted around the room and bowled the giggling 6-year-old over. Several charms later (which also produced an abundance of laughter) an even greater surprise came when his father handed the wand over to his son. ___The father gave a brief explanation to his son what he wanted him to do ("Now just flick the wand like this and red sparks will come out of the tip here.") and released the wand over to the son. It took several tries for the first successful spark to fly, but after minutes of wand waving the 6 year old was grinning and running around shooting off red sparks willy nilly while two proud parents beamed at him. Needless to say this had an effect on his life. ___No longer were the school subjects of science and math his favourites. Instead, every Wednesday and Friday Nathan would rush home to find his father waiting in the cleared out basement where he learned the basics of magic. After days at school learning of deer and other mundane creatures, he learned of such magical creatures such as the phoenix and manticore. After days where he wrote essays with pen and paper about King George III, he wrote on quill and parchment about the fundamental laws off magic. And on one Friday in particular after learning about the United States of America and its succession from England, he spent the afternoon learning about a place called Godrics Hollow, the village of Hogsmeade, and a place called Hogwarts. ___Nathan learned about how his father and mother learned about magic at this school as well as his grandpas and grandma before him. He also learned about how it took his father the whole of fifth year to get his mother to notice him. ("She was a ravenclaw and I was a gryffindor you know- I tried to get into any study group she was in to get her to notice me.") He grinned on as his father expressively told him about how his mum had hit him with a slug-vomiting curse while she was fighting with another female student. ___It seemed the years went on like this. The days at school, and the lessons in the basement on magic. Or the days where he went to play soccer with the other kids in his school, and the days where he would play yet another made up game with his younger brother and sister, often involving aurors and death eaters. And it was another day such as this, during his last year at junior school when he received an owl from the school of Hogwarts… ((Thanks to Zimarra for the image Edit 10/11/2009 - Modified to reflect Second Year status (may add more to story) Edit 11/02/2009 - changed tab format |
